Mangaluru/Udupi: Late on Sunday night, heavy rain accompanied by lightning and thunder wreaked havoc in various areas of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

Vishwanath Shanbhog's house in Anchekatte suffered damage when three coconut trees fell, causing the roof to be extensively affected. Unfortunately, Vishwanath Shanbhog, who was sleeping outside the house, sustained injuries from falling tiles. Anant Shenoy's house also had a coconut tree topple nearby, resulting in damage to plantation crops.

Belthangady and the surrounding regions of Mangaluru also experienced showers. In the Ujire Mescom sub-division, 12 electricity poles were damaged, leading to a power supply disruption. Additionally, significant damage occurred to areca nut and banana trees in Neriya and Charmadi.
