Surat: Seven individuals have been apprehended in connection with their alleged involvement in the cough syrup case, which resulted in the deaths of six people in Kheda, as per media reports citing police sources.
Reportedly, raids were conducted at seven locations in Surat related to the cough syrup case, resulting in the seizure of a total of 2195 bottles.
Quoting DCP Rajdeep Nakum of the Special Operation Group (SOG) in Surat, the report further stated, "Following the incident of six deaths attributed to the consumption of Ayurvedic syrup in Kheda, police deployment was intensified across Gujarat to apprehend the sellers of the Ayurvedic syrup. Subsequently, the Surat Police Special Operation Group achieved significant success by seizing 2195 bottles."
Police officials provided details of the arrests, specifying that one individual in Godadra, two in Kapodra, two in Varachha, one in Poona, and one in the Amroli area have been taken into custody. DCP Nakum mentioned, "The alcohol content in the seized syrup is under investigation. A comprehensive inquiry will commence once the police submit the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report for all the seized syrups." Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
