More than 10 injured in stray Dog Attacks, concerns raised in Bhatkal

Bhatkal: Over 10 persons were injured in multiple incidents of stray dog attacks in Bhatkal on Tuesday. Sources reported that a rabid dog attacked and bit five people in Madina colony, while two others were injured in Heble Panchayat area. Similar incidents occurred in Hadin, Sarpankatta, and Badriya Colony, resulting in injuries to one person each.

The victims, including Jeevan Naik, Mohammed Idris, Firdaus Banu, Mohammed Farooq, Farida Banu Jali, Kausar Madina Colony, Mohammed Irshad, Mohammed Ansar, and Anjum, received medical assistance and Rabies vaccines at Bhatkal Government Hospital. Information regarding individuals seeking treatment at private hospitals is currently unavailable.

The recurring incidents of dog attacks in Bhatkal have raised concerns not only among the locals but also nationwide. People are questioning the prioritization of animal welfare over human safety. The recent incident, where ten people were attacked simultaneously, has instilled fear among residents, particularly parents who are now hesitant to allow their children outside. Urgent action is being demanded from the Taluk administration and the municipality to safeguard children from such dog attacks.
