Karwar: In anticipation of the upcoming rainy season, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is expected to arrive in the district within a week, according to Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti.

Addressing mediapersons, Deputy Commissioner revealed that task force committees have been established at the district, taluk, and gram panchayat levels.

Preparations for the rainy season have already been discussed and planned in meetings conducted through these committees, ensuring that safety measures are in place.

The committees have also been instructed to organize teams of volunteers capable of conducting rescue operations in the event of floods.

Kavalikatti emphasized the identification of areas prone to landslides. Steps will be taken to relocate individuals residing near these areas to safer locations.

Additionally, 25 spots along the national highway require pending work, and the IRB company officials have been urged to complete the tasks prior to the onset of the monsoon season.
