Mangaluru (TNN): A student, who had attempted to end her life by consuming insecticide, died at a hospital on Sunday after failing to respond to treatment.

The deceased is Dhanya, 18, a II PUC student and a resident of Kumpala Ashraya Colony.

According to Ullal police, preliminary investigation suggests the girl was upset after her mother scolded her on finding out that her daughter had returned home late on February 14.

This may have prompted her to take the extreme step. She was rushed to hospital and was critical since then. The case is under investigation, police said.
