Bhatkal: A delegation of Majlis e Ilsaah wa Tanzeem, a local NGO, met with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and expressed their concerns over the rising anti-social incidents that are taking place in the region and straining communal peace.

Quite recently, there has been a rise in incidents such as raw meat and bones being thrown in Temples and Masjids. The modus operandi of such crimes was quite similar and it appeared that they were being carried to stoke communal tension in the town. This was further confirmed when PSI Revati wrote a letter in which she exposed what appeared to be a carefully thought plan to disturb Bhatkal's peaceful environment.

Tanzeem's delegation expressed concern on the fact that despite such clear evidence from a police officer, the matter seemed to have been hushed. The members demanded strong action against the miscreants who are behind these crimes and said that they should not be left to roam free and disturb the region's peace.

After meeting with the delegation, the Western Range IGP Hari Shekharan tasked the Bhatkal Zilla S.P Vinayak Patel and Bhatkal DySP to formulate a plan to capture these miscreants and also to ensure that such events are not repeated. The IGP instructed the DySP to affix CCTV cameras in every temple and Masjid.

Members of Tanzeem, Mr. S. J Hashim, Mr. Abdullah Damudi, Advocate Mr. Imran Lanka, Mr. D.F Siddique and Mr. Meera Siddiqua were present on the occasion among others.
