Bhatkal: Thieves broke into a house situated in the Kogti area of Azad Nagar and managed to steal gold ornaments worth 1.25 lakhs, cash amounting to approximately 1.25 lakh rupees, and a mobile phone.

The incident occurred between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning when the house was locked and unoccupied.

The house belongs to Irshad Ahmed Gangavali, who had departed for Mumbai due to work commitments. In order to avoid staying alone, his wife decided to stay at her mother's house with their child. Seizing the opportunity and confirming the house was unoccupied, the thieves specifically targeted the vacant residence.

Anjum Gangawali Nadvi, Irshad's brother, revealed that the thieves gained entry by breaking both the front and back doors of the house. Inside, they ransacked three cupboards, stealing jewelry and cash in the process. The extent of the damage became apparent when the family returned in the morning, finding items and clothing scattered throughout the house. This indicates a deliberate and targeted burglary.

Upon receiving the report, Bhatkal PSI Kudgunti, accompanied by his team, promptly arrived at the scene to initiate a thorough investigation and gather necessary information.
