Mysuru: In a surprising turn of events, JDS MLA G.T. Devegowda has spoken in defense of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, amidst growing pressure from BJP and JDS leaders for Siddaramaiah to resign over the MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) land allocation scandal. Following the Lokayukta's FIR and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) reportedly filing a case against the CM, opposition leaders have been demanding his resignation. However, Devegowda’s unexpected support for Siddaramaiah has raised eyebrows.

The incident occurred after the inauguration of the Mysuru Dasara festival, where Devegowda made headlines by speaking out in favor of Siddaramaiah from the stage. He questioned why Siddaramaiah should resign over the MUDA issue, challenging his own party by asking if former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy would do the same under similar circumstances.

Devegowda praised Siddaramaiah, stating that the Chief Minister has enjoyed the blessings of Goddess Chamundeshwari throughout his political career. "From the moment Siddaramaiah stepped into the Chamundeshwari constituency, he has been blessed. He rose to become a minister, then deputy CM, and now, for the second time, the Chief Minister. It is the divine grace of Goddess Chamundeshwari that has supported him through all circumstances," Devegowda remarked.

His unexpected remarks have sparked conversations within political circles, particularly given the opposition's push for Siddaramaiah's resignation. While BJP and JDS leaders continue to press for action, Devegowda’s stance seems to offer a significant counterpoint in Siddaramaiah’s defense.
