Mangaluru: The district administration and district Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Programme (Sveep) committee had organised a meeting of the heads of first-grade colleges in the district under the chairmanship of Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr Kumar. 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kumar said that the work on the revision of the electoral list is in progress. As per the records, there are around 60,000 fresh voters in the district. However, only 10,000 new voters have been registered so far.

All those students who are pursuing their degrees, professional courses and have completed 18 years by January 1, 2022, should be enrolled in the list through the voter helpline and web portal, he added.

District Sveep Coordinator Sudhakar said that there is a need to strengthen literacy clubs in the institutes for strengthening democracy in the country.
