Mangaluru: An aged farmer couple ended their lives by suicide at Padekarya in Badagannur of Puttur taluk.

Dakshina Kannada SP Rishikesh Sonawane identified the deceased as Subrahmanya Bhat (84) and Sharada Bhat (78).

The couple slept in a room in the ground floor of their house while their children slept in the first floor. The suicide came to light when their son entered their room in the morning. It is said that Sharada Bhat was suffering from diabetes and age-related ailment. Both were worried over the same and took the extreme step of ending their lives, said P Nagesh Bhat, son of the deceased couple in his complaint to the police. The Sampya Police visited the spot.
