Bhatkal: The pre-monsoon showers that lashed parts of Bhatkal in the last few days has shifted focus back to agriculture.
Peasants, who, otherwise were ‘engrossed’ with elections, for the last one-and-half months, returned to their farms with plough and oxen.
For the last few days, farmers have been busy preparing their fields for the monsoon, which is fast approaching. Majority of farmers have already completed pre-sowing activities like de-weeding and loosening the soil.
The taluk had received some rains in the last few days which helped farmers to speed up their farming activities.
It was seen that farmers have already started their traditional farming using oxen.
Tractors are also being used to till their fields in many areas. As per tradition, fields are prepared as soon as pre-monsoon showers hit the area. Likewise, farmers have started the process here and ready to sow the seeds as soon as the monsoon sets in.
