Chamarajanagar: A horrific road accident between a car and a tipper truck claimed the lives of five people in the Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred on the main road near Chikkinduvaadi in Kollegal taluk when a tipper truck collided with a car.

Due to the intensity of the crash, all five occupants of the car died on the spot. According to preliminary reports, the deceased included three men and two women, who were reportedly from Mandya.

It is learned that they were traveling to Male Mahadeshwara Hills to participate in the grand Rathotsava (chariot festival) as part of the Shivaratri Jatra Mahotsava.

Police have visited the accident site and are conducting an investigation.
