Financial awareness session at Bhatkal Anjuman college

Bhatkal: An informative guest session on financial awareness was held at Anjuman Arts, Science, and Commerce College, Bhatkal, with Mr. V. Hariprasad, Deputy General Manager at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bangalore, as the esteemed resource person. The event took place on September 4, 2024.

According to a press release, the event was organized by the college's Student Welfare Wing and was hosted by Prof. Mohammed Ganim, the Student Welfare Officer.

During the session, Hariprasad covered several key topics related to financial awareness. He discussed the importance of the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion (NSFI) and the National Strategy for Financial Education (NSFE), both aimed at improving financial literacy. He also emphasized the RBI's efforts to reach underserved populations, including rural youth, self-help groups, and farmers.

Hariprasad provided detailed information on government schemes such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and Atal Pension Yojana (APY), explaining their benefits and their role in enhancing social security. The session featured an interactive segment where Hariprasad addressed questions from students and faculty, making complex financial topics more accessible. The event also commemorated 90 years of the RBI's existence. Hariprasad announced an All-India Quiz Competition for students aged 18-25 years to promote further financial literacy. Attendees included Satish, Assistant Manager at RBI Bangalore; Ajaz Alam, Manager at Canara Bank, Bhatkal; and Geeta Naik, a Financial Literacy Consultant. 

The session began with a welcome note from Principal Prof. M.K. Shaikh, followed by a recitation of the Qirat. It concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Manjunath Prabhu, Head of the Department of Commerce.
