Financial literacy awareness programme held at Karwar

Karwar: Financial literacy awareness program was held here at Karwar on Friday under the aegis of Reserve bank of India, where the officials spoke about the economical empowerment.

Speaking on the occasion, additional Deputy Commissioner Suresh Itnal said, with country heading towards a cashless society, youths, especially students need to have better understanding of the same.

Concurring with Itnal, Reserve Bank of India Regional Director P J Thomas said it was necessary to create awareness among people about financial affairs to help people gain expertise in managing their affairs through mobile apps and other technological aids.

Stressing the need for greater participation in economic developmental programmes, he cautioned people while taking to online transactions.

Syndicate Bank Executive Director C H S Mallikarjun Rao said to achieve the goal of reaching benefits of social welfare schemes launched by governments all banks must join hands with the central bank to promote them.
