Karwar: A residential flat on the 3rd floor of an apartment near Ashram road in the city caught an accidental fire in the early evening hours of Wednesday near Karwar.

According to the sources, the fire engulfed after the short circuit that was observed from refrigerator in the flat that belonged to the ownership of Ravi Salaskar. The blaze of fire completely turned the kitchen products into ashes. The incident happened when the occupants of the house were absent.

As the smoke fumes started spreading, the occupants of neighbor flats of the same apartment observed the smoke coming out from the vent of the house and immediately informed it to the fire brigade. 

Acting upon the information, the fire extinguishing team rushed to the spot and were fruitful in bringing the flame to control. It is said that the major tragedy was averted when the fire extinguishing team managed the fire from not getting it come in contact with the gas cylinder that was present in the kitchen room.

A case has been registered in Karwar police station.
