Bhatkal: An autorickshaw driver was seriously injured after his vehicle was being hit by a fish-laden truck on Bhatkal NH-66 near TFC hotel here on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Rama Narayan Naik (33). Fortunately, no passengers were present in the rickshaw at the time of the accident.

It is said that during the incident, rikshaw was heading towards Nawayath colony in the town from old bus stand, while the truck was on the way to Bhatkal from Honnavar. Both had a head-on collision in the incident, which as a result, rikshaw got toppled on the highway and driver received multiple injuries to his head and legs. He was then immediately rushed to Manipal hospital after giving initial treatments at Bhatkal govt hospital. The impact of the collision was such that, a part of rickshaw was also seen damaged.

A case has been registered in Bhatkal town police station.
