Bhatkal: More than 950 quintal of rice was distributed to poor people of in and around Bhatkal by the Fitra Committee on Eid Ul Fitr night, informed the Committee Chairman Maulana Ilyas Jakti Nadvi, at a meeting organized by Fitrah Committee Bhatkal at Maulana Abul Hasan Nadvi Islamic Academy in Bhatkal.
Maulana Ilyas, briefing about the distribution pattern, said that the Fitrah committee had collected more than 950 quintal of rice from various families in Bhatkal, which was distributed among 1914 needy families this year in and around Bhatkal.
Since 34 years, the Fitrah committee is doing a job of distributing the rice among the needy people situated in and around Bhatkal including villages like Shirali, Shirur, Honnavar, Kirimanjeshwar and Kumta.
Maulana urged them to organize themselves in a more better way and appealed to the people not defame people who were working for the Fitrah distribution.
The quantity of rice that was distributed per family varied from 80 kgs to 200 kgs depending upon the condition of the individual families.
The program began with the recitation of the verses from the Holy Quran by Moulana Mehdi Mohtesham. Fitrah Committee member S M Parvez welcomed the gathering.
Tanzeem Vice-presient SM Jafer, Principal of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal Maulana Maqbool Kobattey amongst many others were present.
