Kumta: Five policemen of District Armed Reserve were injured, after the police van, in which they were travelling, toppled near Tandrakuli, in Kumta taluk, on Wednesday late night.

The injured have been identified as Laxman Bhajantri, Parashuram Angod, Vishweshwar Naik, Ali Ibrahim and Vinayak Gadiga. They have been admitted at Kumta government hospital for treatment.

The incident took place when the van driver lost control of the vehicle while preventing a head-on collision with a State transport bus. A case has been registered against the bus driver.
