Gokarna: Foreign tourists, who love Gokarna beaches, joined hands with Arivu Balaga, of Adigona, in sweeping the streets at Bankikodla, and evoked a sense of responsibility among the local people on the importance of maintaining cleanliness.
Foreign tourists who have been attending the yoga classes at Shankar Prasad Foundation did not stay back just watching a group of youths picking up the garbage, plastic wastes and weeds from the public places.
Helping hand
They joined the youths and lent them a helping hand in sweeping the streets and making the area litter and squalor free.
Earlier, Arivu representative Nagaraj Nayak explained the importance of scientific disposal of garbage and hygiene.
He said, the organisation has taken up cleanliness drive at Adigon, Bailakeri, Keshagudde, Bankikodla, Hegare and Agragon areas in Gokarana as a movement.
Bankanatheshwara Youth Association sponsored the programme. More than 200 people, including local women took part in the drive.
