Forest Dept intercepts teak-laden vehicle

Haliyal: On a definite tip-off, Forest Department staff waylaid a goods vehicle carrying teak wood pieces worth about Rs 1 lakh in between the Mugadkopp Cross and Kalginkopp Cross on the Haliyal-Kalghatagi Road on Thursday. The wood is seized and the accused Ningappa Kerkar and Ravi Nekar, both of Hampinali village, have been nabbed. A case under Karnataka Forest Act has been booked against the accused who are presented before the Haliyal court.
