Kumta: Former MLA Sharada Mohan Shetty rejoined the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. Sharada Shetty previously represented Kumta in Uttara Kannada district as a Congress MLA from 2013 to 2018. She had left the party after being denied a ticket in the 2023 assembly elections. 

In an event held at KPCC office in Bengaluru on Friday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress chief D K Shivakumar, and Priyank Kharge welcomed Sharada Shetty and her supporters back into the party fold.
