Mangaluru: An incident was reported here near the central market where a teenage girl suffered serious burn injuries after hot oil was splashed onto her leg due to the negligence of a street vendor on 11th February, Sunday.

The victim has been identified as Amanda (14yrs), d/o Victor D’costa, a resident of Bikarnakatta in the city.

According to the sources, Amanda and her family had been to the central market here to buy vegetables on Sunday. While they were returning, a lady street vendor who was frying pakodas at the market threw used hot oil on the roadside which splashed on Amanda’s leg.

Amanda sustained serious burn injuries in her leg and her father is very concerned about it since Amanda’s exams are nearing. He said that he will make an appeal to Mayor Kavitha Sanil to initiate stern action against the street vendor.

A case has been registered at Bunder police station.
