Karwar: The excise officials on Saturday night seized Goa-based liquor and the car in which it was being transported here at Baithkol cross in the taluk. 

According to the sources, the officials during a raid stopped Maruti 800 car, in which they found around 15 cartons of Goan liquor. However, the car driver, taking an advantage of the dark night managed to escape from the scene. The estimated value of the seized liquor and the car is 75,000 rupees and 70,000 rupees respectively. 

A raid was conducted by the team of officials including excise commissioner Shama Joyce, Manjunath Areguli, Ramesh Badiger, N.N Khan, Shamanur Jamadar, Ravichandra Naik and others.
