Mangaluru: The Mangaluru regional unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized gold pieces weighing 699 grams from a passenger at Mangaluru International Airport.
A press release said here that the directorate had received credible information on the attempt to smuggle gold by an international passenger who came from Dubai on November 6. He was arrested as six bars of gold of foreign origin were found concealed inside a multimedia speaker system .
The gold pieces weighed 699 grams, valued at around ₹21.53 lakh. The contraband gold was seized by the officers of DRI , the release said.
