Government showing no interest in Dharmasthala murder case investigation: WIM

Mangaluru: The Women India Movement (WIM) has alleged that the Karnataka government is displaying a lack of interest in investigating the alleged murder case in Dharmasthala village, raising suspicions of a larger network being involved behind the scenes.

Addressing a press conference in Mangaluru on Saturday, WIM Karnataka State President Fatima Naseema said, “Based on the statements of witnesses and complainants, it appears that multiple murders may have occurred. This is a matter that deeply shames humanity. The delay in police investigation raises serious doubts about possible attempts to destroy evidence.”

She also criticized the silence of right-wing groups who often claim to be protectors of Hindu women. “Those who usually create an uproar in the name of 'Love Jihad' have remained silent on the plight of the girls in the Dharmasthala case. This is sheer hypocrisy,” she remarked.

Fatima Naseema demanded the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by a judge to probe the incident, stressing the serious nature of the case. She further alleged that despite the gravity of the matter, the police have been denying permission to hold protests.

“In response, WIM will soon launch a door-to-door poster campaign to raise public awareness about the issue,” she announced.

WIM State General Secretary Napriya Bellare, state committee member Zabeen Mysuru, SDPI state committee member Ayesha from Bengaluru, Shamima from Thumbe, and Zahida from Puttur were also present at the press conference.
