Haliyal: Houses under Ashraya scheme will be sanctioned to SC/ST community members at places of their current dwelling, assured District in-Charge Minister R V Deshpande.

Inaugurating the new classrooms at Gardolli Wada village, in Haliyal taluk here, on Tuesday, he said the State government was making all efforts to provide basic facilities to each and every citizen.

He said the State government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, had special concern for education and health of children. Measures have been taken to provide quality education and health to every child in the society.

He said, the State government has spent Rs 4.72 crore for construction of 42 rooms at 15 primary schools in the taluk. In Gardolli Wada village alone the government had spent Rs 13 lakh to construct additional classrooms.

The government’s aim was to overhaul the overall education system, he said.

MLC S L Ghotnekar said Congress government has been trying to uplift members of all community without discriminating on the basis of caste, class, race or religion. He sought people's support for the party to take development forward.

The minister, earlier had laid foundation stone for construction of roads for Agasalakatta Wada and Kuda Road at a total cost of Rs 3 crore.

Zilla Panchayat Member Lakshmi Kovekar, Taluk Panchayat Member Rita Siddi, Subash Korvekar, B Naik and others were present on the occasion.
