Karwar: MLA Satish Sail informed that State Cabinet has approved the proposal to give land on rent to Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), to construct international-standard cricket stadium at Savarpai region of Sadashivgad, Karwar.

Addressing to media persons here, on Friday, he said that it was proposed to give 11 acre and 34 guntas of land at Rs 40,000 annual rent for 30 years, and KSCA officials, who have already inspected the land, are interested to construct the stadium at a cost of Rs 15 crore.

"The stadium would have views of Kali river and sea, and it would be one of the most beautiful stadiums in the world. It would also boost tourism development", Mr Sail said.

A letter to the KSCA was written on July 6 last year, requesting to develop a stadium, and the issue was also discussed with District In-Charge Minister R V Deshpande and Revenue Minister Kagodu Timmappa, he further added.
