Karwar: Guest lecturers under the banner of First Grade Colleges’ Guest Lecturers’ Organisations Federation staged a protest here, urging the State government to fulfil their various demands including providing job security to them.

They took out a protest rally from Maladevi Ground to the DC office and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.  

Later, speaking to media persons, Guest Lecturers’ State Union President Hanumant Gouda Kalmani said, job security should also be provided to them in the State on the lines of some other States, he urged. 

He said, meagre salary is being given to them. They are being exploited as more work is extracted from them by paying just Rs 13,000 a month. For 15 to 20 years, they are working for less salary, he said. 

He said: “Everytime we protest, elected representatives including the Higher Education Minister only give assurances. No one bothers later. Hence, we will not resume classes until our demands are fulfilled this time,” he warned.
