Kumta: The students of government gym school here in Kumta submitted a memorandum to the Town Municipality officials on Friday, demanding no construction of Indira canteen within the campus of gym school.

They stated that the gym center here was started in the year 1951 with all the efforts from senior citizens of the town and currently more than 120 youths are getting trained in this gym. A few years earlier, the TMC had decided to build Town Hall in the campus, which was opposed by the students and as a result, it was then built beside Rani Chennamma park in the town. 'The gym students may face difficulties to do their regular exercises if Indira canteen is constructed within the campus of gym school', they noted.

In the memorandum, they asked the officials to shift the construction of canteen to some other place in the town. They also threatened that protests might take place if the demands aren't met. They then submitted the memorandum to municipality official Suresh M.K in this regard.

On this occasion R.D Prabhu, Shrinag Prabhu, Ashok Naik, Vikram Prabhu, Chandrashekar Naik, Ganapathi Gouda among many others were present.
