Tipu Sultan Jayanti celebrated in Bhatkal with great fervor

Bhatkal: The Bhatkal town administration on 10th November, Wednesday celebrated the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan at Rabita Hall, in which hundreds of people had attended.

The program commenced with the Karnataka state anthem sung by the students of New English School. Tahsildar V.N Bhadkar welcomed the dignitaries and the audience present in the function. 

Assistant commissioner Manjunath spoke on the importance of organizing Tipu Jayanti as per government's order and highlighted some points on Tipu’s life.

Zilla panchayat President Jayshree Moger inaugurated the programme by lighting the traditional lamp along with other dignitaries on the dais.

After inaugurating the event, Jayshree said, we all are the citizens of India and keeping aside the caste, race, and region, we should unite for the strong bonding of our nation. She also briefed about the contributions done by Tipu Sultan to this nation.

Tipu Jayanti prizes were distributed among the winning students in cultural programmes.

Present as the guest speaker, Dr. Zameerullah Shareef, addressing the gathering, said, Tipu Sultan shouldn't be seen only as a Muslim leader, but we need to study about the contributions he has done for the state as well as for the nation. He was the first man to launch the rocket technology to fight against British. The various inventions of Tippu were notable and he had instruments with him on which it was written "Asadullah". He also recalled Tipu's style fighting against British.

Further speaking to the audience, general secretary of Majlis-e-Islah Wa Tanzeem, Altaf Kharuri said that the rule of Tippu Sultan and his father Hyder Ali was a Golden rule. The people of Karnataka state lived a happy life during their ruling period. After the demise of Hyder Ali, his son Tipu handled the responsibilities and launched various schemes for the welfare of the people of Karnataka. He was not only a ruler but also a secular leader who shed his blood for every community's rights with equality and made their needful.

Speaking as a Chief guest, Maulana Ilyas Nadvi, Principal Ali Public School Bhatkal, briefly explained about the history of Tipu Sultan and his great achievements against the Britishers. He said that Bhatkal should host a huge program in the upcoming years on Tipu Jayanti as his grandmother and second wife were from a Nawayath community. He has built various Mosques and temples in and around Bhatkal. He added that Britishers have injected poison of hatred against Tipu Sultan among our non-Muslim brothers, as a result, they are opposing this celebration. People of different religions mourned on the death of Tipu as he loved his people, he added.

TMC president Mohammed Sadique Matta preside over the function,  
TMC vice president Ashfaque KM, Jali Pattana Panchayat President Abdur Raheem Shaikh, Taluka Panchayat Member Mahabaleshwar Naik, Chief officer Venkatesh, Abdur Rahim K, Adam, TP CEO C.T Naik amongst others were present. 

High security was deployed near the event hall in order to avoid any untoward incidents.
