Bengaluru: To ensure free and fair polling during the 2018 Assembly elections, JD(S) president H D Kumaraswamy on Monday urged the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) to link Aadhaar numbers to voters’ IDs.

In his letter to the CEO on Monday, Kumaraswamy has said that if Aadhaar numbers are linked to the voter’s ID, the EC could weed out several problems such as multiple enrolment (in both Assembly and Parliament polls) by the same voter.

Citing that several complaints have been lodged with the EC of India pertaining to multiple enrolments by voters, he has sought the CEO to consider his appeal seriously.
