Mangaluru: Rain lashed various parts of Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday. Kadaba witnessed rain coupled with thunder and lightning. With the rise in water level in stormwater drains, water entered into plantations in low-lying areas.
Several trees were uprooted while electricity cables were damaged due to the rainfall. With the drains overflowing on Kadaba main road, water had entered into several shops in the vicinity. Rainwater stagnated on the premises of Community Health Centre in Kadaba.
Alankar, Ramakunja, Koila, Kombaru, Noojibalthila, Balyam, Perabe and other areas also received bountiful showers. The rain also affected power supply in the region.
Even Mangaluru and surrounding areas experienced rainfall in the evening. In the past 24 hours, the district received 17.8 mm rainfall.
Dakshina Kannada has received a total of 3,222.8 mm rainfall since January this year. As many as 4 houses had been partially damaged in 24 hours.
