Honnavar: Manki Jamaat submits memorandum to Pattan Panchayat officer highlighting civic issues

Honnavar : A delegation from Jamaatul-Muslimeen Manki met the Chief Officer of Manki Pattan Panchayat and submitted a memorandum seeking urgent redressal of multiple civic issues faced by the residents of Manki.

The delegation, comprising local leaders and youth, raised concerns about the poor condition of internal roads in various Nawayath colonies of Manki. They particularly highlighted the dilapidated state of roads in Basha Colony second cross, the lane adjoining Mohiuddin Mosque, Saud Colony, and Usman Street. Residents complained that the roads had become so damaged that even auto-rickshaw drivers avoid entering these areas, causing severe inconvenience to the public, especially the elderly and patients. The delegation urged immediate repair of these roads.

The memorandum also drew attention to incomplete stormwater drains constructed from Mavinkatte to Super Bazaar. It was pointed out that the drains are clogged with garbage and silt, resulting in rainwater entering residential houses. The delegation demanded proper cleaning and completion of the drainage system, with special attention during the monsoon season.

Another pressing issue raised was the growing population of stray dogs in the town. Residents expressed fear over possible attacks on pedestrians, especially schoolchildren, and called for preventive action before any untoward incident occurs.

Garbage management was also a major concern. The delegation criticized the discontinuation of garbage collection vehicles for several months, leaving households without a proper system for disposing of wet and dry waste. They demanded the immediate resumption of door-to-door garbage collection services.

The Jamaat representatives further urged the reinstatement of Aadhaar enrollment facilities at the local post office, which had been suspended recently, causing difficulties for residents.

Residents of Saud Colony also voiced grievances about the lack of proper roads and drainage facilities in their locality. They complained that during rains, water from higher areas washes mud into the colony, creating severe hardship for pedestrians. The delegation demanded construction of roads and drainage channels in the area.

The memorandum also highlighted the risk of accidents on the main road due to overspeeding vehicles. The delegation stressed that speeding vehicles pose a grave threat to schoolchildren and pedestrians. They requested the urgent installation of speed breakers at identified spots to prevent accidents.

Responding to the grievances, Manki Town Panchayat Chief Officer Keshav Chougale assured the delegation that some works would be initiated immediately within his jurisdiction, while efforts would be made to secure government funding for larger projects.

The delegation included Jamaat President Kadpadi Habibullah, General Secretary Hassan Bapu Hassan Bapa, Vice President Sauda Abu Muhammad, Madrasa Principal Mashima Muhammad Irfan, Treasurer Hajika Abdul Rashid, Madrasa president Maulana Shakeel Ahmed Sukri Nadvi, Maulana Jameel Ahmed Qazi Nadvi, Maulana Noor-us-Sabah Abida, former Panchayat member Kattangari Khaleeq-uz-Zaman, Kattangari Zakir, Kadpadi Nisar, Ali Bapu Athar, Hajika Zahid, along with other Jamaat members and youth from affiliated organizations.
