Kumta: A house caught fire on Tuesday morning near Alvedande village in Kumta taluk, no injuries were reported and the fire was doused  with the help from the fire department personnel.

The house belonged to Ganapathi Babu. The occupants of the house were out at the time of the incident. It was said that the fire erupted in the house from the lamp that was kept in the Pooja room. It initially got connected to a nearby cloth piece, resulting in the huge fire later. Observed this by the neighbors, immediately rushed to put off the fire. Though the fire was uncontrollable, fire brigade personnel was informed to rush at the spot and they helped in rubbing out the fire.

Due to the incident, the gold ornaments were seen completely burnt. Some paper documents along with home appliances too were turned to ash. The estimated overall loss is about 4.5 lakh rupees.
