Karwar: The forest officials have seized illegal teakwood worth forty thousand rupees when it was being trafficked near Joida taluk in Uttara Kannada district. However, the accused managed to escape from the spot, while the officials have also seized the tractor on which it was being trafficked.

A team of officials including S Ramesh of Haliyal, Chandrakanth Garavad, Mahim Jannu of Joida, Santosh A Gawasa, Virupaksha Vadagol and others participated in a raid.
