Bhatkal: The 77th Independence Day was commemorated with a profound sense of patriotism and enthusiasm by a multitude of educational institutions, social organizations, and government offices throughout Uttara Kannada, including Bhatkal, on the 15th of August. These entities orchestrated a diverse array of activities to honor the memory of freedom fighters and proudly displayed the national flag.
In Karwar, Uttara Kannada's district in-charge Minister, Mankal Vaidya, hoisted the flag, while in Bhatkal, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Naina raised the flag at the Bhatkal Taluka stadium. Dr. Naina also performed flag hoisting at the Bhatkal Town Municipal Council and the Mini Vidhan Saudha.
Continuing a yearly tradition, the Taluk administration of Bhatkal organized a splendid event at the Bhatkal Taluka Stadium to mark Independence Day. The event included a march past by various school children showcasing their talents.
At the 100-year-old social organization Majlis-e-Islah wa Tanzeem in Bhatkal, President Inayatullah Shabandri raised the flag in homage to the freedom fighters. Likewise, Anjuman Hami e Muslimeen, an educational institution in Bhatkal, arranged special events across their schools and colleges to commemorate the occasion.
Among the notable figures participating in the flag hoisting were Mohammed Sadiq Pallur, Vice President of Anjuman, at Islamia Anglo-Urdu High School Bhatkal; Muzammil Ruknuddin, Anjuman executive, at Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management Bhatkal; Ahid Mohtsham at Anjuman Degree College and PG Centre; Dr. Zaheer Kola at Anjuman Pre University College for Boys; and Muntazar Ruknuddin at Anjaman College of Education and BBA & BCA College. Qamar Saada, an active member of Bhatkal Muslim Association Jeddah, raised the flag at Anjuman Boys High School.
At women's institutions, Dr. Farzana Mohtsham, Principal of Anjuman Pre University College for Women, and Raisa Shaikh, Principal of Anjuman College for Women, performed flag hoisting at their respective colleges. Dr. SV Nayak, Chairman of Bhatkal Guru Sudhindra College, raised the flag at his institution. Maulana Abdul Noor Fakarde Nadvi, Deputy Qazi of Jamaatul Muslimeen Bhatkal, unfurled the flag at New Shams School Bhatkal, and Abdul Hameed Damudi did the honors at Ali Public School.
Maulavi Abdul Aleem Qasmi conducted the flag hoisting at the well-regarded educational institution Jamia Islamia Bhatkal. In Manki, Zafar Katangari raised the flag at Madrasa Rehmaniya & Al Mominat School, while Iqbal Saheb did the same at Al Hilal School & PU College Manki.
Dr. Atiqur Rahman Muniri, General Secretary of Bhatkal Rabita Society, performed flag hoisting at Shirur Tauheed Public School. Mohsin Qazi, General Secretary of Kumta Jamaat, raised the tricolor at Valki Ittihad Public School.
In Murdeshwar, the President of the Muslim Education Society, Dr. Usman, hoisted the flag at all three educational institutions: National School, National College, and National Girls College. He also performed the flag hoisting ceremony at Silver Sand School in Murdeshwar. Shaikh Ilyas, the General Secretary of Jamatul-Muslimeen Murdeshwar, raised the flag at Murdeshwar Urdu Model School. Similarly, at Madrasa Tanveerul Islam in Murdeshwar, executive member Abdul Fattah Mani hoisted the flag, and at Iqra English Medium School in Murdeshwar, the headmaster Naeem Shaikh commemorated Independence Day by raising the tricolor flag. Additionally, several other schools and institutions held Independence Day celebrations, although detailed information about these events is not available.
Bhatkal's Deputy Superintendent of Police, Shrikant K., hoisted the flag at Bhatkal Town Police Station, while Medical Officer Dr. Savita Kamath raised the tricolor at Bhatkal Taluka Government Hospital.
Following the flag hoisting ceremonies in all these institutions, schools, and government offices, a variety of programs were arranged in honor of Independence Day. Tributes were paid to the martyrs who made sacrifices for the country's freedom.
