HASSAN: Janata Dal (Secular) supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda on Monday said that the party would field candidates in all 224 assembly constituencies in the state for the upcoming elections.

Speaking to reporters after offering prayers at Mavinakere hilltop to Ranganatha, Gowda said that his son HD Kumaraswamy would contest the elections from the Ramanagara constituency from where he was elected as the chief minister.

Gowda said that he had asked Kumaraswamy to contest from Ramanagara despite other leaders from the party forcing him to contest from another constituency in North Karnataka.

Meanwhile, Gowda‘s  daughter-in-law Bhavani Revanna, also said that her son would be contesting the 2018 Assembly elections from Rajarajeswari in Bengaluru or Belur assembly constituency in Hassan district.

Bhavani Revanna said that Deve Gowda had already given the green signal to fight elections. "JDS has taken 2018 elections as a challenge and the party will come to power as people are frustrated with the two national parties," she said.

When asked about her candidature she said that it is too early to say. But she will abide by the decision of Gowda.

The party will also hold an executive committee meeting in Hubbali to discuss political strategies with the ticket aspirants as well as leaders from North Karnataka, Deve Gowda said. He added that he would continue to play a role in active politics until his last breath.
