Karwar: The first unit of the Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant in the district has reached to the second position in the world in continuous power generation in the Pressurised Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) category.

The PHWR here is fast moving ahead to become the Number-1 in the world with its untiring power 
generation.

The unit entered the 801st day on Saturday in continuous electricity generation. At present, the nuclear power plant at Ontario in Canada holds the first position in continuous power production.

The first unit of the Kaiga Nuclear Power Plant started functioning on May 31 in 2016. The officials of Kaiga Plant hoped that the unit would reach the first position soon.
