Bhatkal: The man alleged of brutally attacking his wife was arrested by the Udupi police here at Bhatkal railway station on 6th February, Tuesday.
The accused Santhosh Poojary (27 yrs), a resident of Hermunde, Patrabettu was nabbed by a police team led by Udupi DCIB inspector Sampath Kumar for trying to kill his wife in a cold blooded manner.
According to sources, Santhosh had allegedly attacked his wife Anushree on 27th January, Saturday while she was on her way to her house from bus stand. He had attacked her with a sword and severed her hands and legs leaving her critically injured. She was rushed to a hospital later.
A case was registered at Ajekar police station and a police team was sent to Mumbai to arrest Santosh. However, the police were unable to locate him there. But on Tuesday, the police learned that Santosh was in Bhatkal by tracking his mobile phone.
The team arrived at Bhatkal and took him under custody.
