Karkala madrasa students rescued in Kumta

Karkala/Kumta: With the timely intervention of Uttara Kannada police, 21 students of a madrasa in Karkala who were allegedly kidnapped by a person were rescued at Kumta railway station on Friday, November 3. The police also arrested the alleged kidnapper.

According to Kumta police, they have detained Muhammed Tayyib of Bihar and rescued 21 madrasa students at Kumta railway station. They were heading to Bihar bound Matyasagandha Express train.

A group of 21 madrasa students from Jamia Madeenathul Uloom Madeena Masjid of Karkala were allegedly kidnapped by Muhammed Tayyib, who was working as a faculty in Karkala Masjid. A complaint was filed in this regard at Karkala town police station on Friday.

The students were in the age group of 8 to 16 years and all of them are said to be the residents of Bihar and they were at Karkala Masjid to study.

While the police acted swiftly on the complaint, Udupi police came to know that Tayyib was traveling in Matyasagandha Express, and informed the Uttara Kannada police. Around 7 pm on Friday, Kumta police rescued the students and detained Tayyib.
