Karkala: In a shocking incident here at Banglegudda region in the taluk, the dacoits targetted a house and looted away cash along jewellry worth lakhs. According to the information received, a couple named Sanjeev Nayak and Yashoda were residing in the house. A group of three looters entered their house by breaking the rear door in the midnight with sharp pointed weapons. The looters threatened the couple saying that they would be killed if they shouted. 

The looters searched every corner of the house and stole a total of 168 grams of the gold ornaments. They also made away with a cash amount of 2.5 lakh rupees and an expensive mobile phone. The victim couple said that the looters were speaking to each other in Kannada and Tulu language. 

In the incident, Sanjeev Nayak, a retired bank employee was injured and is getting treated at the nearby hospital, while his wife Yashoda is an employee at BSNL. 

Acting on the tip-off, ASI Rishikesh Suvarna along with Karkala CPI Joy Anthony and town PSI Nanja Naik rushed to the spot and conducted the necessary investigations. They have also traced the fingerprints of the looters and further investigations are carried on.
