Bengaluru: The Election Commission has decided to extend the polling timing to 11 hours for the May 12 election to Karnataka Legislative Assembly.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Chief Electoral Officer Sanjiv Kumar said that the Polling would commence at 0700 hrs and end at 1800 hrs.

He said that the timing was extended following demands by various sectors.

The Commission has been approached to extend the Polling hours also in view of severe heat conditions, especially in North Karnataka.
