Haliyal: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said almost all the promises made by the Congress in its pre-poll manifesto have been fulfilled in just four-and-a-half-year of its rule.

Inaugurating the completed works and laying the foundation for new projects here on Thursday, he came down heavily on the BJP leaders and termed them “a group of liars” and “communal forces”.

Justifying celebration of Tipu Jayanti, he made it clear that Tipu’s birth anniversary was one of the 26 celebrations of great personalities planned by the Congress government.

“Many tall promises made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi like creating two-crore jobs every year have remained unfulfilled,” he said.

Dandeli will be a new taluk with effect from January 1 and this became possible only because of the repeated insistence by District Minister R V Deshpande, he said. Though four commissions were appointed in the past to recommend new taluks, none of them recommended Dandeli to be made a new taluk, he added.
