Bengaluru: Amid growing concerns over alleged biased reporting by mainstream media, which has been accused of fueling Hindu-Muslim narratives and supporting the BJP and fascist powers, many people are increasingly turning to social media platforms, avoiding traditional news outlets accused of spreading division.

In this context, it has been learned that the Karnataka Congress is planning to launch its own media platform to communicate directly with the public about the party's activities and the state government’s achievements. Sources suggest that the Congress party feels mainstream media has not been adequately supporting it, prompting discussions about creating its own media presence, including the possibility of launching a dedicated newspaper.

To start, Karnataka Congress is reportedly setting up a YouTube channel, with preliminary meetings already in progress. A studio has also been established at the party’s office for content creation.

Speaking about the initiative, Karnataka Congress Working President G.C. Chandrashekhar said, “People don’t realize how modern or contemporary we are. The BJP is distorting history, claiming that Congress has done nothing in the past 50 years. Additionally, party decisions sometimes don’t reach the grassroots. For these reasons, we plan to launch a YouTube channel." He added that this effort is also aimed at improving the party’s public image.

Chandrashekhar further mentioned that in the second phase, the Congress is considering launching a newspaper, though the plan is yet to be finalized. He pointed out that the party is studying the Trinamool Congress’s media model in West Bengal, which runs its own newspaper, Jago Bangla. “We’re looking at how West Bengal sustains it, and whether the people and party workers are engaging with it,” he added.
