Karnataka Elections: Polling ends, About 77% voter turnout recorded in Uttar Kannada; Kumta records 80% polling

Karwar: About 77% of polling has been recorded in Uttar Kannada district for assembly elections in Karnataka on Saturday, 12th May 2018.

Kumta topped in the district with polling of about 80%, while the district headquarter Karwar slipped to the bottom with around 65%. The rating of polls in other constituencies in the district are Yellapur with 79%, Sirsi 79.5%, Bhatkal 76% and Haliyal with 75%. However, the official announcement of polling rates is yet to be announced by the election officer.

The counting of the votes will begin on 15th May 2018 morning, following which the results will be announced on the same day.

EVM malfunctions: 
Sources informed that the EVM machine of 164th booth in Haldipur village coming under Kumta-Honnavar constituency had started to malfunction. Polling was stopped for a while until the new machine was installed. On the other hand, the EVM machine at the pink booth in Yellapur too was malfunctioned, where the polling was stalled for around 1 hour. 

The voting was conducted peacefully and no untoward incident was reported. Paramilitary forces were deployed and policemen were present in all areas.
