Bengaluru: Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra on Saturday instructed state police to take stern action against those who celebrate and post derogatory remarks on social media against the tragic death of Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat.
"I have directed the state police to take stern action against those perverted minds who post derogatory remarks on CDS Rawat's death. These culprits should be brought to book," he said.
Jnanendra said the nation cannot tolerate the berating of India's brave officer, who had contributed his might immensely for the noble cause of the nation and pride of the tricolor.
General Rawat, along with his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 others, was killed in Tamil Nadu's Coonoor helicopter crash on December 8.
Meanwhile, the condition of the lone survivor of the mishap, Group Captain Varun Singh remains critical but stable.
Singh is being treated at the Air Force Command Hospital here.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday had told the Lok Sabha that all efforts were being made to save Singh. Soon after the crash, he was admitted to Military Hospital Tamil Nadu's Wellington with severe burn injuries.
He was initially moved to Sulur in an ambulance by road and then was flown to Bengaluru for better treatment. Singh has been conferred with the Shaurya Chakra in August for averting a possible mid-air accident after his Tejas light combat aircraft was hit by a major technical accident last year.
