Kumta: The National festivals celebration Committee along with Taluka administration hosted the Kannada Rajyotsava celebration program with great enthusiasm in Manki ground, Kumta on 1st November.
Addressing the gathering after inaugurating the event, president of Coastal development authority and Kumta MLA Sharada Shetty said that Uttar-Kannada district has always been one step ahead in the literary achievements of Kannada which has increasingly become popular. The tradition and culture of the rich Kannada language should be respected by every Kannadiga. The richness of Kannada is the history of nearly 2000 years, and it's the duty of every Kannadiga to respect its state's language. She further opined saying that though we honor other languages, but should stay strong upholding the richness of Kannada to the high extent.
Present as the chief guest, the famous poet of Kumta, B.A Sanadi, in his address said that Karnataka holds a great position in respecting all the languages in the state. He urged the audience to use Kannada regularly in their daily life so that it does not die and leaves forever.
On the occasion taluka panchayat president Dr. Shridhar Gauda, TMC president Madhusudan Shet, TMC member Anita Mapari, TP EO Mahesh Kurivar, R.G. Gungi, Kumta Rotary club president Vasanth Rao, Lions club president Meera Nayak, Taluka Health officer Dr. Adnya Nayak, representatives of teachers association and others were present.
The program began with the recitation of 'Kannada Nadageethe' followed by 'Raita geete' (Farmers anthem) was also sung. Tahsildar Megharaj Naik welcomed the guests and audience. Professor Manjunath Naik compered the event. Sir S S Bhat led the vote of thanks speech.
