Karwar: Illegal Goan liquor worth of fifty thousand rupees were seized by the excise police, when it was being trafficked in a scooter near Majalli region in Karwar on Saturday.

According to sources, the excise officials seized the liquor being carried in a Honda Activa scooter when it was approaching from Goa to Karwar when the officials were on their daily routine for raid near Mankada cross near Majalli. The scooter including the liquor has been seized.

The accused has been identified as Gaju Banaulaikar, a resident of Karwar town. A case has been registered against the accused in Karwar police station.

A team of Excise officials including commissioner Shema Joyce, inspector Suvarna Naik, T.B Gonda, driver Shah Noor Jamadar and Arun Ankolekar were present during the raid.
