Karwar: In a good news for the people of Karwar, the district has fared very well in this year's SSLC examination and has secured the second post in the State ranking. The overall passing percentage of Karwar has scaled up to 88.12%.

Last year, Karwar had got the fifth rank with a passing percentage of 79.82% and this year, it has jumped to the second position with an increase of nearly 10% in passing percentage.

A total of 8,942 students appeared for the SSLC exams from here of which 7,880 students have passed. As usual, girls have outclassed boys in passing percentage. 91.49% girls have passed while passing percentage in boys is 84.67%.

In Karwar education district, Karwar taluk has secured the first position with 89.75% passing percentage, Honnavar is second with 89.27% and Kumta is at third position with 88.53%.
