Karwar: A Scuba Diving and Aero Sports Training Centre has come up in Karwar and it is offering various courses. Those who wish to dive underwater can get training and certificate from the centre.
The Centre on the bank of Kali river at Sadashivagad near Karwar was inaugurated by film actors Shubha Punja and Sukrutha Deshpande on Monday. Deputy Commissioner S S Nakul and SP Vinayak Patil were also present.
The courses include open water diving, advanced open water diving, rescue diver course, dive-master, emergency first response, enriched air diver, night diving, deep diving and diving instructor.
Ranjith Punja, instructor of diving courses, said the duration of training period will be different for each course. Basic course like open water diving will be taught in four days. Theory, training in swimming pool and sea and final test will be held within four days. After completion of the course, the trainees will get certificate from Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) within two weeks.
Aero sports training, parasailing, paramotoring, paragliding, winch glider and other courses will also be conducted by the centre.
Scuba diving in Karwar
Those who wish to dive underwater can visit Karwar. Scuba diving has started near Lighthouse Island off Karwar coast. Karwar is the second biggest scuba diving spot after Netrani Island at Murdeshwar in Uttara Kannada district and the third diving spot in the state.
With an to promote tourism in the district, scuba diving has started in Karwar with a minimum charge. Those who wish to see the underwater world can go for the same by paying Rs 4,000.
